About
About Recall Shelf
Recalls are announced by three different federal agencies, in three different places, in language written for lawyers. Recall Shelf reads all three for you and sorts them the way a household thinks: food, medicine, things in the house, and the car.
Every few hours it reads the FDA's enforcement reports for food and drugs (through openFDA) and the CPSC's recall list. Vehicle campaigns come from NHTSA when you ask about a make, model and year. Each record keeps the agency's own words, shortened only where marked with …, and links to the official record.
"Could reach Ohio" means the FDA record names Ohio or says nationwide, or it is a U.S. consumer product recall. A record that lists other states only is still one tap away under "All records".
Recall Shelf is independent. It is not the City of Garfield Heights, not a government site and not a news outlet: it does no reporting and writes no stories. It runs on its own, with no staff, moderators or advertisers, and is built and maintained by WeldonPC.
Not medical, legal or safety advice. Check the official record before you act, and ask your pharmacist or doctor before you stop a medicine.
